When I left the States, I had a vague idea of three places I might like to go - Australia, Israel, or Japan. I figured I'd get more clarity during the course of my trip, or maybe I'd find an entirely new destination, or - I joked with myself - I'd meet someone adorable at Naomi's wedding and just stay in England.
Well, because God has a sense of humor, it turns out I did meet someone absolutely adorable at Naomi's wedding. But by then my mind was made up, so...eastward ho! No time for love, Dr. Jones.
I considered going back to Croatia and learning the language, which as I've mentioned I really love. But in Bosnia we met these Israeli researchers - I wrote about them earlier - who have been so friendly and helpful. So I get to go to Jerusalem for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Michelle, I figure you especially will have some good recommendations of things I need to see!
(Naomi did as well. The next paragraph will be much more fun if read aloud in a British accent: "You must go to Elijah's tomb. I went there, and I looked at the little hole and thought, 'I could fit in there,' so I climbed in, and I sat there, and then I thought, 'There was a dead person in here,' and I climbed right back out!")
Amazing! Have a wonderful trip! I liked the suspense...you'll have to do that again when you choose where to go next! Love you!
ReplyDeleteHey!! I wish I DID have some good recommendations....but, truthfully, all my 'travel excitement' comes from living vicariously through you. :) I can't wait to hear more about Jerusalem!
