"Challenge accepted" sniffs Antarctica

I wake up in the middle of the night (because what time is it, really) and start looking into land routes to Angkor Wat and onward. Should I detour to Phnom Penh? Can I enter Vietnam via eastern Cambodia and southern Laos?
Is that, uh, safe? Are there land mines? So much I don't know.
I keep clearing the map and returning to the home screen with that blue "you are here" dot. I'm in Asia. I've never been anywhere NEAR here before. I gaze at the distance between where I am now and my previous furthest place (Jordan). I love this Christmas-morning feeling that sings all the way to the toes of the seven-year-old who wanted to be "a gypsy or a hobo" when she grew up. I'm grateful that I still get this excited. I realize with a pang that the feeling may never be quite as strong again: this is my last new continent.

*then I get back to my map and realize that Australia is also a continent and I'm basically an idiot.
